The Pony School horse riding program is for children ages 5- 10. This program covers basic rules of the stable, safety, general horse handling, grooming, tack & equipment (no riding), and is geared towards younger children (a bit more focus on social skills, sportsmanship, safety).
Pony School courses are divided into 6 week sessions, with 7 sessions per year. We break for 2 weeks over the winter holiday, Thanksgiving week, a week in the spring and a week in the summer.
Children will be required to have proper foot wear and a safety helmet. Book, notebook and learning material all included.
1. Introduction to the Stable & Ponies Course (No Riding)
All kids between the ages of 5 and 10 must start in this course to ensure everyone knows the same etiquette and safety practices around the horses / ponies and the stable.
The intro part 1 course is just one 6 week sesson and meets one evening per week, rain or shine (in the case of a class cancelation a make up day will be on a Saturday afternoon during that 6 week period). Once students finish this course they can progress to the riding sessions.
FEE: $75.00 for 6 week session
Requirements: Sturdy safe shoes.
Includes: Book, notebook and initial learning materials.

2. Introduction to the Riding Course (Basic Skills)
This course introduces young kids to riding, and will be taugh over three 6-week sessions. Our intentions are to go slowly with safety in mind.
This course will continue to build on everything taught in Course 1 (Introduction to Ponies and the Stable) including ground handling, safety, pony care, stable etiquette and sportsmanship (fellowship).
Basic riding education will include;
- Tack & equipment use
- Tack & equipment care
- General safety rules while riding
- Mounting & dismounting
- Proper position on the pony (the rider's seat)

- How to control the pony (the rider's aids)
- Proper warm up techniques for rider and pony
- Proper cool down techniques for rider and pony
- Different riding sports

$100.00 per each 6 week lesson session, our ponies / horses
Requirements: Safety Riding Helmet (ASTM-SEI rated) closed sturdy shoes, long pants to clover the legs while on the pony.

3. Kids Pony School - continued sessions
Each session is 6 weeks and meets once weekly. This program will continue to build the students knowledge of horse care, stable management and riding.
FEES:
$120.00 per each 6 week session, our ponies / horses
$100.00 per each 6 week session, your pony/horse (with approval from instructors)
Requirements: Safety Riding Helmet (ASTM-SEI rated) proper riding shoes, suitable riding clothes.
