This is our Level 1 program for kids ages 4-5 and all new students up to age 8. This program offers an opportunity to introduce young kids to horses and ponies in a safe but social environment. Children will receive mentoring in grooming, tacking, basic safety around ponies. Students go for a short ride on the pony in our enclosed riding arena with an instructor leading the pony. We use fun activities such as tossing a tennis ball into a bucket or doing other exercises on the pony to develop coordination and balance. This class gives smaller / younger kids the chance to become comfortable around the ponies, learn the necessary grooming & tacking routines and basic safety etiquette, with out having to be responsible for handling (controlling) the pony.
We have special activity days such as bath day so kids have time for peer interaction. Parents are also encouraged to participate in grooming and learning to handle the ponies as their children progress (so wear safe shoes!). Kids also receive age appropriate worksheets while waiting their turns to ride.
Students ages 6 and up that master the basic skills of this class can move up to Level 2, Pony School.

How Do I Enroll?
Email us to join the “Intro To Ponies” group . We will set a time to collect the $30.00 sign up fee and have the student’s legal guarding sign a release of liability form. You will then be given your welcome packet 20% discount off the purchase of your helmet (or any other item) at Double L Tack.

- Typically, this class open for registration 10 days before and close 2 days before the class date.
- When class is open for registration a registration form will be visible. Submitting this form will add you to the class list. You should receive a confirmation email with in a few hours. This will provide you with class time/date and a link to the class status page. Also, if you did not receive an email confirmation, you can also check that event’s page to see your child’s name by clicking the ‘Show Attendees’ button.
- If a class has been filled a will be shown on the RSVP page.
- When the class RSVP date has passed, there will be a notice.
- $12.00 fee per participant per class due at class. Cancellations or ‘no shows’ after RSVPing are $5.00.
- Class length is determined by the number of kids showing up for class; 4 students = 1 hour, 2-3 students = 45 minutes. A class with 6 kids, 2 ponies and 2 instructors = 1 hour.
- Kids need an ASTM-SEI helmet to ride the ponies, must wear closed sturdy shoes and appropriate clothing (shorts / pants – no bathing suits – no sun dresses/skirts) in order to participate in class.
